ピッチシフターの究極、Whammy！DTシリーズ！
前の記事でも少し触れたのですが、私はRATM（rage against the machine）が大好きで、トムモレロを崇拝してます。
恐らく、国内では誰よりもコピーしていると勝手に思い込んでいます。
トム先生の音を出す時の必需品。
それがWhammyです。

シリーズ5は結構使えるのでどっちでも良いんですが、やはり私はPATMを演奏する時は、このWhammyDTをダントツで推します。
それは何故か。
RATMにはBULLS ON PARADEやWAR WITHIN A BREATHのように、たまーに半音下げの曲があるからです。
ストンプでやりだしてからは問題なくなりましたが、サブ機として今でもこのDTは利用しています。
このDTから大きく変わったこと。それはトゥルーバイパスが導入された事が大きいかなと思います。
基本的にこういうデジタル系って繋ぐだけで音が微妙に変わりますから。大きな進歩ですね。
そして、もっともこの機材が熱いところ。
それは、ドロップチューニング機能が入った事ですね。これは画期的でした。
この機能だけ抜き取ったDROPというコンパクトエフェクターも出たくらい、そして今でも絶大な人気がある機能です。
７半音づつのステップアップ/ステップダウン、１オクターブのアップ/ダウンを行うことができるのですが、私は他にもEVHのハーフダウン、リンプの3th下げに多いに利用しておます。
もちろんデジタル処理が入るので、実際にチューニングを変えるのとは音に差は出ます。
が、ライブでもお客さんには絶対分からない精度ですし、練習にはもってこいです。
何より、弦の張力が変わらないので弾きやすさもレギュラーと同じ。いい練習になりますよ。
